Harrisburg is full of history and good people. Those of us that live here feel that Harrisburg has many special qualities about it, and we want our neighborhood to retain the flavor, atmosphere and character that has been built by those who came before us.

The Harrisburg Neighborhood Association was started in 1979 and is the oldest in the state.

Harrisburg is located in the central part of the city. The neighborhood cover approximately 375 acres, and the boundaries include Walton Way, Milledge Road, Lake Olmstead, the river, and 15th street.

The neighborhood takes it name from tobacco wholesaler Ezekiel Harris, whose c.1797 former residence still stands at 1840 Broad Street. Despite the connection to Harris, the neighborhood is best known as a mill village that developed between the 1830’s and 1930’s
