Augusta Canal—Built in 1845 as a source of water & power for Augusta, is the only intact American industrial canal still in use for its original purposes. It is popular spot for hikers, canoers, & kayakers. Interpretive center hours Monday—Saturday 10am—6pm Sunday 1-6 pm

Confederate Powderworks Chimney—This is the only permanent structure that was begun & completed by the Confederate government. The 168foot tall chimney is all that remains of the powderworks that operated between 1862-1865, supplying gunpowder to the Confederate Army.

Ezekiel Harris House– This tobacco merchant’s home, built c1979, is now a house museum, and called the finest 18th century house surviving in Georgia. Open Saturday, 10am –1pm, other times by appointment. 1822 Broad Street.

The Augusta Geographic Information System Department strives to efficiently and effectively provide automated mapping, geographical analysis, and GIS technical support to Augusta GIS Users, county departments. We now have an on-line GIS mapping application free to the public. You will be able to create maps using our available data layers, view property card information, and also print maps and property cards to your printer.
